10 ways to boost your mental health
Mental health affects us all in different ways. As humans, we all have times where we feel down in the dumps are stressed or scared. Most of the time, these feelings can pass, but sometimes they can develop into stronger issues that need to be tackled.

Your mental health is continually changing as your life circumstances change.

As humans, we are constantly developing and going through many changes in our lives. There will be times when things feel great and other times when the weight of the world is pushing you down.

We wanted to share our 10 ways to boost your mental health:

1) Challenge your thoughts.
Question those negative thoughts that creep in. Try to establish the driving force behind them.

2) Share things with your family and friends.
Do not be afraid to speak up when things are troubling you or when life is starting to feel tough. Pick up the phone, call someone.
Go and see people (you will be amazed by how good that feels!)
We are so caught up in an alternate 'virtual' reality on social media, where everyone assumes everyone else is ok based on photos they have posted (or statuses they have shared). It is never the full truth of what they are feeling and many people hide behind this.

3) Work on yourself, do you!
Set time aside to work on your wellbeing, you deserve it.
Do the things that you enjoy; go for a walk, book into a spa, start that course you always fancied doing.
Spend time embracing you and your needs.

4) Set goals for yourself.
There is nothing more satisfying than achieving goals, no matter how big or small they are. Small steps are the key to happiness!

5) Eat well!
Nutrition plays a massive part in how our bodies function; you know what they say, "you are what you eat". If you are eating bad food, you will generally feel bad. Nourish your body with fresh, nutritious vegetables, fruits and locally sourced foods.

6) Exercise.
Exercise is the most under-prescribed antidepressant. Exercising will increase your wellbeing, as well as reducing stress and anxiety (it will elevate your mood!) Get those endorphins flowing.

7) Manage stress.
Set some time aside to manage things in your life causing your stress.
Strategise how you can reduce the stress that surrounds those things.

8) Relax.
Relaxing is one of the hardest things to do for humans that are on the go all the time. Set aside time for yoga, meditation, reading, and deep breathing exercises.
You will be amazed at how calm you will feel. Try a bedtime ritual. Turn off those digital distractions and focus on calming your mind (you will have a restful night sleep and be able to take on the world the next day!)

9) Talk to someone.
Do not be afraid to reach out and seek help if you feel things are starting to spiral out of control. The first step to recovery is reaching out and asking for help.
Speak to a friend, a doctor, a therapist. Remember: it's ok not to be ok.

10) Sleep.
Lack of sleep is a massive cause of stress and health issues (both mental and physical). Make sure you are getting the right amount of sleep your body and mind needs. Try to establish a bedtime routine so that you can achieve a regular pattern of sleep. You will thank yourself for this!
